Treaures From My Home...

I just wanted to share with you all some beautiful furniture pieces in my home that have so much history to them!!! I love anything with a story behind it and I have three stories ready to go!! The first picture is of the beautiful chair that belonged to my mum's great...great...great...great?? grandfather (I'm not sure how many great's...but she did say it a few times!!) This chair was made out of the wood that built the boat that bought himself and his family from London to Africa (Where I lived up until 7 years ago) It is amazing how sturdy and surprisingly comfortable this chair is!! I have added it to my room (Not much space left!) and it looks amazing at my beautiful aged white desk. The second image is of a chaise lounge my parents bought about 15 years ago from an antique shop in South Africa that was across the road from my Dad's work. Mum seems to think it is about 110 years old, and it carved out of beautiful mahogany. I would love to know where I could get this piece valued! It really needs some new upholstery though...it is looking very tired (which I think I would be too if I was 100yrs old!) And last but not least....I have tried taking a photo of this a million times but it is just not coming up clear. My gran in Tasmania gave me a ring with the most amazing story behind it....I feel honoured and blessed that she chose me to have it for my 21st birhday present. She found this ring during the Depression in the 1930's when she was 6yrs old and she has managed to keep it for 72 years and has now passed it on to me!! It is such an amazing ring and I can't wait to get a good picture of it! Now that I would love to know the history behind....whose it was...where it came from. Oh if only I knew! x x

My dream bathroom!

How elegant and inviting is this bathroom!! Just looking at it made me want to have a bath....and I'm a little bit grateful that my bathroom isn't as glamorous as this because I have a feeling I would get in the bath and never want to leave!! Isnt the mirror gorgeous!! Imagine a hot bubble bath with a nice glass of wine and a good book! The only thing missing is a beautiful chandelier above the bath! x

Colour, Pattern and more colour and pattern!

I love this image. Its quite out there but I was really drawn to the bold prints, colours and interesting patterns that all seem to all work so well together! I love how this living room wasn't designed to be matchy matchy, the furniture selection is beautiful and creates a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I can imagine sitting down with a good book amongst all those cushions!

Love this!!

I have got to say out of all the images I have seen this has to be one of the most beautiful! I am that in love with it that I have put it on both my inspiration boards, my diary and set it as my computer backround! The colours, patterns and fabrics all work so great together, my eyes dont know where to look first! Now this is one cupboard I would that would stay open in my house. The rest would remain closed because they are scary!! I hope you all love this image as much as I do! x (Thanks to www.laissezfairedesign.blogspot)

Inspiration Boards

In my first blog I spoke about how OBSESSED I am with Inspiration boards and I finally got around to making my own...okay so I made two because I had so many beautiful images I loved from Interiors to fashion to quotes and flowers...I just couldnt stop! After I finished my first one I was desperate to make another one and so down came a picture frame from my brothers wall and white it was painted!! I have put one above my bed and the other has no place really so for now it lives on the top of the chair!! Inspiration boards really make a room look beautiful and its a great personal touch to put anything on there that you find inspirational and beautiful. Okay so I even put a big picture of a wedding cake on there....no plans for a wedding but I always have plans and plenty of space in my stomach for cake! x

Too Long!

Wow, I have not been online in so long! I have had major problems with my internet at home and I have had so many things I have wanted to blog about! I have added a few more personal touches to my room, all these little additions have alot of meaning, on my bedside table I have a dish that my parents got as a wedding present 22 yrs ago, the box was my dad's 21st birthday present, the gardenias are my mum's favourite flower and the candle...oh my god...the most amazing thing I have ever smelt in my life!! It is Coconut Lime and we sell it at Lily - G, even my brother commented on its beautiful smell....and he usually doesn't comment on much! Just like if I ask him if I look nice he doesn't even look at me and just nods his head. Haha. I used to have these beautiful big white lillies behind my chair and they have now found a nice new home in the dustbin since I found out they were the lily of death!!!! hmmm. Well I just wanted to share these few more photos...because I am a little bit in love with my room. I know theres nothing really special going on in there, but it is so calming. Kate x
